fotFs chapter 18Kyru cracked open his eyes just as the sun was rising over the more distant mountains, bathing the mouth of the cave in warm orange light. Despite the warmth however, the chill in the air hadn’t receded any. If anything, it had gotten worse. He shivered as he got to his paws, looking over at Sheer and missing her presence. With a deep sigh he unfurled his wings, stretching them experimentally. The membrane of his wing was starting to come together with only light scarring, while the fingers still looked a bit crooked and off-placed. They would obviously need much more time to heal. With a slight hesitation he flapped his wings, testing the air currents around him. The air reacted strangely with the wing memebrane, not enough to lift him into the air, but a definite improvement. His ears pricked curiously as he watched Kari sat up, stretching her paws above her head.“Morning, Kyru!” She called in an overly cheerful voice, making it sound extremely forced. Again his ea
FotFs chapter 19The clearing was very silent, my mouth was open slightly with surprise and shock, eyes wide. Feral’s eyes also widened, and a hastily disguised grin flashed across her face. She ducked her head, not wanting anyone to see it. I shot her a look. Now wasn’t the time for teasing. Kyru frowned, wings raised slightly in a protective manner. The murmuring started up again.“It’s that damn blind dragon again.” Treloth snarled, sounding irritated and frustrated. Kyru shot him a glare as one of the younger dragons nodded hastily to win his approval. Zee didn’t say a word, but her surprised look quickly melted into a furious one. She curled her upper lip, flashing her teeth and growling loudly.“What brings you back?” she hissed, eyes narrowed dangerously. More growls started to pop up around the clearing, some louder than others, coming from various dragons I both knew and didn’t. Feral looked around nervously, and Kyru shuffled closer to me.
FotFs chapter 20I froze completely, eyes widening. There was something tugging at the edge of my mind… something important. Something that would significantly turn this fight to our advantage. In confusion I tried to grasp it, only to have it slip through my claws. Kyru was staring fixedly at my tail, though I wasn’t really sure why.Zee, who was oblivious to what was happening around her as usual, hopped down from her log, scowling darkly. Her icy blue eyes were narrowed dangerously as she trotted over to Treloth, smacking him on the back of the head and forcing him to his paws. He shook, scattering her with water and getting slapped again.I wasn’t watching them, though, and neither was Kyru. He was still looking at my tail like it was a snake that was going to bite him, and my eyes were narrowed in an attempt to grasp the concept that was teasing me in my own head. I was abruptly jerked out of my thought as Zee filled her chest with air, looking bigger than before, and snarling a
FotFs chapter 17I stood completely frozen, legs locked and eyes wide. My mind was whirling all over the place, thoughts scattering. Trying to gather them was like trying to herd cats… or mice. Pretty much impossible.Heck, this was like trying to herd WALRUSES.Kyru lifted his eyes to the top of the cliff, where tiny stones had just stopped raining down on our heads. I assumed he was assessing the auras of the two dragon that now sat crouched above us, scales sliding against stone as they shifted. After a failed attempt to gather my wits I looked up numbly, my violet eyes meeting a pair of familiar yellow ones.Treloth looked exactly like I remembered him. After a year most people changed, but not us. We’re dragons, for pete sake. We just… don’t die, or something. Only the really, really old ones look it. Like Herbat. He was… weird. And wrinkly.I’m getting way off topic.Treloth, like I said earlier, looked exactly the same. He was still slim and muscular like a
